When I reformat ZIP disks, I prefer to use the whole device (no
partition).  mke2fs prints a warning, but it's harmless.

/mnt should not have subdirectories.  Putting subdirectories in /mnt is
not standard practice.

Don't create new directories for mount points.  Most people are only
going to have to delete them before creating the ones they want.
Generic mount points (whether predefined or not) are only useful if the
media is removable and exchanged often.  In other words, some systems
may have the same CD-ROM mounted indefinitely and will mount it
somewhere more appropriate than /cdrom (Debian) or /cd (my preference).
