I'd prefer to distribute the packages in Debian form, compiled from source,
if possible. I think "alien" is best used for commercial programs.

What packages?

The people at Red Hat know about "alien". Perhaps I should direct them to
the policy manual, in the hope that we could come to at least a partial
merge on policy.
