Re: The Future of Debian's TeX packages

Well, from my talks with Rainer Schoepf, a member of the LaTex team
(Man, are we lucky at U-Mainz: R. Schoepf, J. Knappen and F. Mittelbach,
all here at Mainz ;-)), i can say that at least he is very unlucky about
the TeX/LaTeX packages currently provided by Debian. And he knows about
them first hand because he "inherited" a couple of Debian systems from
me when i left the CC of U-Mainz and is - to my knowledge - using Debian
on his home system as well.

He even started to file bug-reports on behalf of the Latex team. So
I think we should take this seriously. From my talks with him i have
gotten the impression that teTex is superior to NTeX. If that is the
case (and i have no reason to doubt that), we should IMHO follow the
pack and use teTeX.

Just my 2 cents.
