Yes-- I installed the kernel 2.0.23... damn, I'm surprised my freshly built kernel works *at all*.
Anyway, I edited the driver binary with emacs and changed the 2.0.23 to 2.0.18 to obtain a working driver. Obviously, not a very polite thing to do to the system.
I'm obtaining the 2.0.23 kernel from Incoming and will install and build with that [to match libc 5.4.7]. BTW: I have had NO problems [yet] with 5.4.7.
