Well, ucspi-tcpd is not a replacement for inetd. Its an aplication server
for a single port and does not conflict with inetd. You can use both. But
actually there is another ientd ot there :)  inetd-TNG, based on the 5.3
inetd but with some enhancement. Watch out for my annoucement :) (binding on
defined addresses, controlable listen backlogs, more tunable parametres and
(perhaps) concurency control). This one will conflict with inetd and xinetd.
(Although the conffiles are upward copatible with old inetd).
