Dpkg-shlibdeps broken ?

I already sent a similar message a couple of days ago, without
answers.

I have bad problems with dpkg-shlibdeps (dpkg 1.4.0.1, dpkg-dev
1.4.0.1, perl 5.003-2). When I do a dpkg-dhlibdeps on an executable,
it complains:

==
dpkg-shlibdeps: failure: chown of `debian/substvars.new': No such
file or directory
==

But there is a debian/substvars.new file ! If I use it with the `-O'
option, it works.

BTW, it cannot find dependencies on the libg++ and libstdc++
libraries, it warns with:

==
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: unable to find dependency information for
shared library libg++ (soname 27, path /usr/lib/libg++.so.27.1.0,
dependency field Depends)
dpkg-shlibdeps: warning: unable to find dependency information for
shared library libstdc++ (soname 27, path /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.27.1.0
, dependency field Depends)
==

How should I deal with that ?

Phil.
