I've just checked some things.. And we're in big trouble I guess.
Actually debian.org has *ceased to exist*. All data you see is local
data cached in your own nameserver.

$ host -t ns debian.org. a.root-servers.net.
debian.org NS CHIARK.CHU.CAM.AC.UK
 !!! debian.org NS host CHIARK.CHU.CAM.AC.UK has no A record
debian.org NS MASTER.debian.org

Ian mentioned his email address was about to change.. Now the whole
CHIARK.CHU.CAM.AC.UK machine doesn't exist anymore.

Master.debian.org runs a nameserver, but it isn't set up! It doesn't
even act as a secondary server for the debian.org domain. So, debian.org
has no nameservers anymore. Ugh!

This is a hint that master.debian.org isn't authoritive for debian.org!

Now, it seems that Ian's machine has been renamed to chiark.eng.cam.ac.uk.
And indeed, I can nslookup debian.org with that machine as a server.

It lists in the zone file:

 debian.org. NS cartridge.i-Connect.Net
 debian.org. NS nomis.i-Connect.Net

Someone moved the servers. This is all nice and well, but the root
nameservers still say chiark and master are the nameservers!

Could someone please at least make master.debian.org a secondary for
debian.org so that the domain works again? Actually I think it should
be the primary for debian.org.

After that, the domain has to be changed at Internic. But please use
at least one nameserver outside of i-Connect.Net. It's nice that they provide
the service, but if i-Connect.Net has an outage (you never know) the
domain is unreachable again. Perhaps ns2.cistron.nl can be a secondary
for debian.org (it _is_ a debian box :))
