There was an interesting discussion last night at the Linux Users
of Victoria (Australia :-) meeting: somebody (Andrew Cosgriff, I
think) suggested that it would be nicer to be able to select the
packages you want _first_, determining the disk space requirements,
and _then_ to partition the hard drive. Apparently, that's the way
Solaris does it; it sounds like a pretty good idea to me.

On a slightly different, but related, note, maybe the disk space
required field should be split into several sections: /etc, /var,
and /usr, to be precise. My home box (which recently had the 420MB
Linux drive replaced with a 1.7GB drive - *drool* :-) has 500MB on
each of /var and /usr; it would be nice to allow people to determine
how large these need be, maybe adding in an extra few megs for future
additions/upgrades, and partition appropriately.

Maybe I'm just dreaming :-) (If you want me to put my money - or time -
where my mouth is, I'll be more than happy to - after the end of year
exams in November, that is :-)
