Bug#3242: perl's dependencies are wrong

You mean missing from my bug report?

It seems to me that my brain is not missing anything, but that either
the perl package or the unstable tree is/was missing something. Sorry
if I'm being dense:

I noticed
  1) perl requires/required "source"
  2) no package that provided (the virtual package) source seemed to
be available in the unstable tree
  3) Though "kernel-source-1.3.100" was conceptually similar and
probably provided the actual files perl needed, it did
not coordinate with perl in dselect/dpkg.
  4) as a result of 1-3, I could not get a full version of perl going
     (could not run perlconfig properly).

So that seemed like something to report....

D> Perl has been upgraded yesterday or so. Try version -10.

I will.
