I second this - let's stick with standard tools. I know not everyone
likes vi, but it is standard (you expect it if you have some previous
unix experience) and doesn't have the problems mentioned above. nvi
has the :viusage command - so it's not that bad even for beginners.
I would also like if vi is made the default editor for programs like
vipw, edquota etc. again (it is always possible to change this using
the EDITOR environment variable). I just like vi better than ae :-).
Even if you normally use some other editor, it is a good idea to
know the basics of vi just in case you ever need it in emergency
(say, because emacs stopped working for some reason). The only
problem I can see with this is that nvi is bigger - will it fit on
the install disks?
