Could you be a bit more specific?

If you mean the arrow-type scroll bars (as opposed to the ordinary
gray ones), then I am a bit puzzled what you mean by "cannot get it
to work": there is no way I can think of one can even TRY to get
them to work, without recompiling Xaw3d.

I don't know where all of you got "the old a.out xaw3d" from
(not me, and I thought I was the first debian distributer for xaw3d),
but wherever you got it from: they obviously removed the "#" before
the line
  # EXTRA_DEFINES = -DARROW_SCROLLBAR
in the Imakefile.

Actually release 1 (I think) did have them defined -- but it caused
problems with xterm: Usually, when you click and hold the arrow at one
extreme of the scrollbar, the bar moves up/down smothly. This doesn't
work in xterm (as described in the xaw3d README). This behaviour
is really irritating (and reduces the usability of the scrollbars
severly). Thus, I removed it.

What examples exactly? The only examples I know of are the ordinary
X-applications that use the Athena widget set.

"Look and feel?" I guess you just mean the scrollbars?
or is there something else I'm not aware of?
