sysklogd-1.3-1
With sysklogd-1.2-11 installed on my system I tried to upgrade to 1.3-1
and got the following:
(Reading database ... 13082 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace syslogd (using /mnt/c/1.1/base/sysklogd-1.3-1.deb) ...
/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/preinst: [: too many arguments
Unpacking replacement syslogd ...
Setting up syslogd ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/syslogd.postinst: /etc/init.d/syslogd: No such file or directory

should be sysklogd--/
dpkg: error processing syslogd (--install):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
syslogd
I then did:
dpkg -s syslogd
and got:
Package: syslogd
Essential: yes
Status: install ok half-configured
Priority: required
Section: base
Maintainer: Martin Schulze <joey@linux.de>
Version: 1.3-1
Config-Version: 1.2-15
Pre-Depends: libc5 (>=5.2.18-1)
Conffiles:
/etc/syslog.conf 5431bfcc04097e9a63a50fcc2d3b8af0
Description: Kernel and system logging daemons.
This package implements two system log daemons. The syslogd daemon is
an enhanced version of the standard Berkeley utility program. This
daemon is responsible for providing logging of messages received from
programs and facilities on the local host as well as from remote
hosts.
.
The klogd daemon listens to kernel message sources and is responsible
for prioritizing and processing operating system messages. The klogd
daemon can run as a client of syslogd or optionally as a standalone
program. Klogd can now be used to decode EIP addresses if it can
determine a System.map file
Which seems to indicate that the installation almost completed
(half-configured?)
Since the only failed configuration involved replacing the old
/etc/init.d/sysklogd it may work anyway...
