I concur that 1.3.72 is pretty stable.  I've been running it almost
exclusively for over a month on my home machine with no problems.  

The latest version of diald finally fixed a SLIP problem I've been
having with post-1.3.72 kernels, though, so I'll probably go back to
the bleeding again.  I'm running 1.3.88 right now.
