dpkg 1.1.5: diversions bugfixes, overwriting by default
Diversions didn't work at all well in any previous version. Sorry !
I've turned on --force-overwrite by default, so that these bugs
produce warning messages rather than stopping the installation. You
can get the previous behaviour back using --refuse-overwrite. Note
that the less-permissive default WILL return in a later version !
Either the ELF or the a.out binary version should go in the unstable
tree. The other version, and the ELF nondebbin, should go in
project/experimental.
None of this should go into the stable tree.
The maintainers of the colour ls and colour xterm packages, and other
packages which create diversions in their preinst scripts, might want
to add a version-specific predependency `dpkg (>= 1.1.5)' so that
people don't try to use the earlier buggy versions. It might be worth
waiting a bit to see if this version is any good, though.
dpkg (1.1.5); priority=MEDIUM (HIGH for diversions users)
* Fixed coredump when using diversions. (Bug#2603.)
* Fixed typo in dpkg-divert which could lose diversions. (Bug#2662.)
* --force-overwrite is the default.
* diversions.text provides better examples.
