Bug#2332: e2fsck is statically linked
The latest release of e2fsprogs (1.02-1) has e2fsck dynamically linked.
This is because there really is no point in _just_ having e2fsck linked
statically, when init, bash, etc. are dynamically linked.
I personally believe it would be better to have statically linked copies
of a few vital utilities, such as a shell (somebody suggested sash?), and
e2fsck. It was pointed out to me that rescue floppies are not always
easily available.
I would be happy to provide an additional shared-library e2fsck package
for the rescue floppies if we made these changes.
I've closed this bug.
Michael.
