Stop.  You could say the same about libncurses, libgdbm ...
Lumping all together is not the solution.  The weak spot for installing
upgrading (wrt ordering dependencies) seems to be /bin/sh.  How about
a stripped down /bin/sh whithout this /bin/bash - libreadline - libncurses
chain.

If only bash is using the readline (as longtime concurrent processes)
there is also no point to have this code in a shared library.
