e2fsck boot-time error messages.
I seem to be missing boot-time error messages from e2fsck.
Two systems:
Linux neon 1.2.13 #5 Thu Nov 30 07:02:50 EST 1995 i486
ii e2fsprogs 0.5b 4 The EXT2 file system utilities.
Linux aurora 1.2.13 #4 Sun Nov 26 15:07:59 PST 1995 i386
ii e2fsprogs 0.5b 4 The EXT2 file system utilities.
I just loaded aurora with the boot/root/base floppies, had an error
reported to the console by fsck, but the error message did not show
up in /var/log/messages.
When I check neon I find:
messages:Feb 15 10:13:55 neon kernel: EXT2-fs warning: mounting unchecked fs, running e2fsck is recommended
neon and aurora have the same kernel version and e2fsprogs package.
What could be causing this difference in reporting fsck errors to
/var/log/messages?
