Bug#2330: Xpm -- Problem unpacking control info

I'm trying to unpack the new Xpm libs and get the following problems:

callandor:16 - /tmp# dpkg --install xpm4.7-*

gzip: stdout: Broken pipe
dpkg-deb: subprocess gzip -dc returned error exit status 1
dpkg: error processing xpm4.7-3.4g-1.deb (--install):
subprocess dpkg-deb --control returned error exit status 2

gzip: stdout: Broken pipe
dpkg-deb: subprocess gzip -dc returned error exit status 1
dpkg: error processing xpm4.7-dev-3.4g-1.deb (--install):
subprocess dpkg-deb --control returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
 xpm4.7-3.4g-1.deb
 xpm4.7-dev-3.4g-1.deb

I verified both packages against the MD5SUM in the "Packages" file and
they match.

I used "dpkg-deb" to check around and it seems that it is the control
info that is failing. I looked for a new version of "dpkg", but .17
hasn't made it into the distribution yet and nowhere can I find an
Incoming directory that I can download from.
