That's as good a reason as any. I wrote 'I don't know why' because I 
really didn't know why, not for any other reason.

I hope that isn't the case.

If nobody else will then I could have a look at it; I could produce a 
binary-only compatibility package at least (along the lines of xcompat) 
from the binaries in 0.93R6.  I'm not sure whether I have the right tools 
installed to produce a jumptable shared library at the moment, and I've 
only ever compiled them using pre-existing makefiles.
