Bug#2300: unable to reboot

   Date: Wed, 7 Feb 96 23:11 PST
   From: bruce@pixar.com (Bruce Perens)

Your kernel does not have ELF support linked in (you were getting it
from a module). Init is an ELF executable and is unable to run, thus
nothing can run. You need to replace the kernel from one of the development
image packages. I think Simon uploaded 1.3.57 or so recently.

Thanks very much, Bruce.

I just copied over the source for linux-1.3.60 and will try to build a
new kernel. I would get the image package but the Australian mirrors
of ftp.debian.org are not up to date and trying to transfer across the
Pacific from ftp.debian.org is hopelessly slow. Must be all that
obscene material being transmitted over mailing lists that is tying up
the nets :-)

                                                     ^^^^^^^^

Did I miss some news from the good ol' U. S. of A.? What was the
Oscar for? Was it a special Oscar this year or was it awarded last
year?

BTW: The animation is incredible. Your company does great work.
