Bug#2253: mailx debian-bugs@pixar.com
rlogin can leave bad utmp entries
Package: netstd
Version: 1.24-1
I did an rlogin to my system, rlogin chiark -l ijackson,
and after this I see:
-chiark:~> w
4:43am up 4 days, 3:15, 3 users, load average: 2.09, 2.42, 2.85, 1/73
User tty login@ idle JCPU PCPU what
ijackson ttyp2 3:47am 15 3 1 (bash)
osd1000 ttyp2 9:39pm 15
Szenda ttyp3 3:48am 55 1 1 -dip (vavatch.chu.cam.ac.uk) (diplogin)
-chiark:~> who
Szenda ttyp3 Jan 29 03:48 (janus.csi.cam.ac)
ijackson ttyp2 Jan 29 03:47 (localhost)
osd1000 ttyp2 Jan 28 21:39 (tacitus.acad.cai)
-chiark:~>
Clearly only one of these sessions could be using ttyp2; the rlogin
should have cleaned up the bogus leftover entry (whose origin is
unknown to me).
Ian.
