Could you please pay attention to the dpkg release announcments ? The
new dpkg is no longer ALPHA, so you should look for it in binary/base.
The bug you report was fixed over 10 days before you reported it, in
dpkg 0.93.69. The release announcement I posted then is fairly clear
about the consequences of the bug.
The most recent dpkg is 0.93.71.
