What do you have $TERM set to, It seems my freshly compiled 1.2.11 is setting my terminal to dumb, but a dumb terminal where tput's clear works, and where vi and emacs work (which is why I hadn't tested the value $TERM before)... Setting TERM to linux makes ncurses' binaries work. Thank you, Jim
