NCurses tput replaces the termcap tput. Clear works on my system, as does "reset", at least with my latest upload. What do you have $TERM set to, and exactly what is happening? The termcap-based tput will be going away, as will the ncurses-* packages. H.J. is merging ncurses into libc. This means that ncurses becomes part of the base at some time in the near future.
