Re: FYI: debian-legal is discussing the inclusion in the Debian archive of "erotic" interactive fiction depicting the sexual abuse of children

Hi all,

I dont want to make debian-legal and debian-devel-games the place for a
discussion about this idea (so if you want to respond to all, maybe do it on a
different list?) but I thought I bring it up so that this idea does not get
lost and so that somebody else who actually is a DD might pick it up and make a
proper proposal on the right list.

This discussion might not be the last one about inclusion of content
(pornography, violence, theory of evolution, bdsm, lgbt or whatever else one
might find offensive) in Debian which is in some way illegal in one or more
jurisdictions. I didnt hear a word from ftp-masters on this yet but if content
can't be included in "main" because then Debian's redistribution would be
forbidden in a great number of jurisdictions, then why not create a new archive
area for such content? This way, it would not be part of Debian main and thus
it would not hinder Debian's redistributability but it would be as easly
available to Debian users as contrib and non-free. As an added benefit it
would also make sure that the user gives a clear consent to using the content
in that archive area.

This idea actually came from my significant other, Maria Marin who is hereby
attributed :)

cheers, josch
