Questions about license and copyright headers
Hi,
As far as I understand, while source file license and copyright headers
aren't mandatory for packaged programs in Debian - as long as the
license of the source tarball is ok and included - we're still
encouraged to see with upstream if they could include those missing headers.
I couldn't find details in the Debian Policy Manual, but I've seen a few
time that only for the source files that make it into the distributed
binaries are those headers important - not .make, .sh and configure
files. Is that correct? And do we document them in debian/copyright when
they've got copyright headers?
What of files generated by other tools, for example the .glade xml files
generated by GLADE, or makefiles generated by Automake that would lack
copyright headers?
Cheers,
Loïc
