Unfortunately mentors never worked properly for me. Any package that
takes more than a couple of minutes to upload simply stalls at last
bite, or (depending on behavior the application I use) restarts from the
beginning.

Because of this, I cannot use tools like "dput" or "dupload", and have
to upload via FTP manually. Moreover, I have to check the status of the
upload regularly as it never completes itself.

I would really appreciate an alternative.
