Where a screenshot isn't available a "No screenshot available" image invites users to submit screenshots. Any one can easily contribute[3] and after approval your screenshots will be available on the web[4] and on packages.d.o[5], synaptic[6], aptitude-gtk[7], software-center[8] and, via games-thumbnails[9], goplay[10]. The Debian screenshots site has been running for almost 2 years[11] and has accumulated over 2200 screenshots for 1700 packages[12] but still lacks screenshots for many packages[13] so why not upload screenshots today? The screenshot meta-data is available via JSON (1[14], 2[15]) and UDD[16]. If you would like to work on debshots[17], the software behind the Debian screenshots site, please check out the git repository and send Christoph Haas some patches.
