Description : scalable PostScript fonts for european character sets
The Latin Modern fonts, also known as "lm fonts", are a set of
scalable fonts in PostScript Type 1 format. They are based on the
PostScript Type 1 version of the Computer Modern fonts and contain
many additional characters (mostly accented ones).
The primary goal (well, mine and that of the upstream authors, as it
seems) is to make these fonts available for the TeX machinery but it
should also be possible to register with defoma so that other
applications can make use of them.
If you wonder about the version number: there is an unofficial lmodern
package for these fonts at http://www.miwie.org/lm/ since August 2003
and its latest version is 0.86-4 (the transition between both packages
should be smooth). cf. recent discussion[1] on debian-tetex-maint.
