If it's not in bsdmainutils, it won't be part of the default calendar
configuration.  I forgot that since I overwrote the system-wide config
with a local one and don't have to care anymore.  However, in general
this needs to be kept in mind as well.  (that's why I would opt for
adding the Debian specific database to bsdmainutils and hence be part
of the default config).

I don't think that listing all kinds of events makes much sense, since
they are normally not of a great historical value and would also
clutter the calendar, imho.

For regular information about which conferences are going on, a
general debian/linux-events-announce list may be more useful, imho.
