I fail to see how this is simpler and safer. And most of all it is slower.
It does for example not allow shared memory access to the XServer. The X
protocol has to be pumped through 2 user mode programs.

Personally I have only one main user on my system, so I can safely make the
.xauthorities file of root a symlink to that of my user.
