Ok so desktop-base correctly configured it. Was the initrd correctly
rebuilt?

It's unrelated. Aurelien just says that it might not be wise to enable
it since the spacefun provides no visual feedback.

But yes, if splash is not present, we won't add it right now. And I'm
not really sure we want to do it anyway. plymouth works “out of the box”
only on KMS setups, afaik. Not sure we want to force it, and in any case
it's not to desktop-base to do it, it'd be plymouth role.
