Sorry for not being actively participating, I had some problems to
solve that I didn't predict =(.

I'd suggest looking at helping synaptic be as usable as it can be.

I am working on this, but I won't be able to do it alone, I'm quite clueless
about lots of the stuff and I would appreciate help on having the gtk
frontend at least boot.
