I have used lpp before. It does not look near as good as splashFX or bootsplash, and it too like boot splash is a kernel patch. It also seems to be stale. The way I see it, we will either have to develop our own solution or build off of SplashFX. I like the idea behind SplashFX better than bootsplash because it is a module. I am sure that we could add what ever is not already supported to it if we need too.
