Re: Debian derivatives census: Canaima: status?
Paul, thanks for reaching out.
(I've removed all .gob.ve from my reply as a matter of principle due to their role in the detention and mistreatment of journalist Luis Carlos Diaz _and_ of practicality since the ccTLD has been severely impacted or out of service altogether [0] and most employees are furloughed)
Due to a nationwide blackout, Venezuela's Internet connectivity has been severely impacted. The situation has somehow improved [1] but it will likely have long-term consequences and it is proving systemically hard to resolve. Also, with many households lacking running water we shouldn't assume the Canaima infrastructure will be prioritized. Furthermore, it's very likely there are not a lot of users locally trying to use the infrastructure since they also lack power at home. Classes and other activities are suspended, so there's no regular use case for Canaima right now. I'm sure Luis Alejandro himself, who is local to the situation, has been impacted and still has limited and unpredictable power and very poor connection quality.
We don't know what Venezuela will look like in a week or a month or a year, but I think I speak on behalf of Luis when I say it's likely Canaima development will continue. If you and the team could please give Luis some time to get back to you, we'd really appreciate it.

Subject: Debian derivatives census: Canaima: status?
Hi Luis, all,
I'm wondering what the status of Canaima is as I noticed that some of
the Canaima infrastructure is down. All of the domains for the Canaima
distribution do not resolve. On the other hand there have been recent
posts on Twitter and relatively recent Github commits.
Is Canaima development likely to continue?
