I think maybe you misunderstand Ryan's idea. It was not about running
lintian on the packages from Debian derivatives. It was about creating
a way to check the data from the derivatives census and ensure certain
mistakes[1] are not made.

Running lintian on packages from derivatives is another thing we could
do but I personally don't plan to work on it.
