Nice theory.  Unfortunately, individual effort doesn't have much effect.
(Yes, I know that of which I speak.  Being recognized as one of the best
(some claim I'm _the_ best) argentine tango dancers in the area may have done
a world of good for my "chances", but I don't know of any women that have
considered going geek because of it.)
