go to http://linuxbrit.co.uk/ and check out his procmail/mutt dotfiles -
they auto-sense lists, sort them into files _and_ mutt auto-loads them,
and 'knows' that they are list addresses.

must admit i don't quite understand it, but it works very nicely for me.
