And by «the installer», you mean d-i, vmdebootstrap, ganeti, libvirt,
pbuilder, schroot, rootstrap and fai, to list a few ways of installing
Debian?

It's less work to just document how to keep sysvinit in the release
notes, something I surely hope we're going to do anyway.
