I've been trying to think about this from other points of view, with
the idea of suggesting policy changes that would allow ndiswrapper
to remain in main.

I haven't found any such reasoning which I'm happy with.

Put differently:

(1) I agree with the reasoning you expressed last week.

(2) I think that any dissenting opinion should include
a policy change recommendation (with associated
reasoning).
