Ok, but that's not everything it's supposed to do.

If that's all it needed to do then the code implementing the ABI
could do (*0)= "dump core" and that would be fine.

You're right, of course, that it's more precise to say that the user
has this need.

Then again, there have been packages where there were two groups of users,
one who would be better served by a dependency and another who would be
better served without.
