I believe ide-generic being builtin would not cause trouble for yaird,
based on my general understanding of yaird logic and the following note
in /usr/lib/yaird/perl/ModProbe.pm, lines 23-24:

Wether or not building and loading ide-generic on powerpc causes
trouble is another issue. I have not experienced problems doing so on
my own powerpc-based machines in the past, but do not have VIA-based
IDE hardware attached to those, and naturally have not tested all
possible cases.
