For what it's worth, work is continuing with or without a final decision
from the TC.  Christian Marilliat has written a lot of the script which
transitions most user settings.  He is finishing up the session
transition code.  I'm working on the panel transition, and I've already
written a patch for gnome-session which will ask the user if they want
to run this script when they first log in again.  So stuff is happening,
even if it may not be immediately visible to you.

Because we would lose a great opportunity to test the transition scripts
if we did.
