Well, I noticed about this problem in at least another VPS provider
which was not AWS.

We would have to convince each and every VPS provider to use the
backport instead of the stable version, which may be anything between
easy and impossible, depending on the VPS provider.

IMHO, this is the reason why point releases exist, not only for "very
critical" things, but also for extremely annoying bugs like this.

I will not mind if this is not fixed in time for 8.3, but I would
definitely expect this to be fixed in 8.x for some value of x.
