Re: Call for testing Debian AMI with Cloud-init

Awesome! For 7.2 Google Compute Engine will still start out using the shell version without cloud-init -- these will go live this week I hope -- but our patch for cloud-init to support Compute Engine is in the BTS and in Debian experimental waiting for us (or anyone else!) to have a free moment to test with it.

We hope to share your great work on the python version and use that with cloud-init in time for 7.3 or even a subsequent 7.2 image (ours have dates in their names so we ship more than one per Debian release).

Thanks for your work, glad to see this coming together!

Hi James, sorry for the delay.

I started an instance of ami-ad5a0bc4 with a trivial user-data script and it
worked well.

Cheers,

Yay.

I am re-basing the changes to build-debian-cloud and then hope to release 7.2 with it this week. Just saw the new cloud-init release, so if that proceeds to stable-backports shortly then it will be picked up.
