Bug#1112137: Cinnamon shutdown button does nothing on first login
Package: cinnamon-session
Version: 6.4.10
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-CC: essin@fastmail.com
Dear Maintainer,
When I click the "Shutdown" button from the Cinnamon menu, the system does nothing on the first login after boot. If I log out and then log back in again, the shutdown button works normally.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Boot and log into Cinnamon
2. Open the menu → click "Shutdown"
3. Observe: login screenreappears
4. log back in
5. Click "Shutdown"
6. Observe: system powers off correctly
Expected result:
The system should shut down immediately when the button is clicked.
Actual result:
Nothing happens on the first login. Only after logging out and in again does shutdown work.
Additional info:
Debian version:
Description: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)
Kernel version:
6.12.41+deb13-amd64
Cinnamon version:
Cinnamon 6.4.10
cinnamon-session package:
ii cinnamon-session 6.4.0-1 amd64 Cinnamon Session Manager - Minimal runtime
ii cinnamon-session-common 6.4.0-1 all Cinnamon Session Manager - common files
Shutdown via `systemctl poweroff` and 'shutdown now" both work fine.
