【Debian 的 init 命令稿系统】 Alexander Wirt [5]问道 Debian 为何不把
runlevel 3 到 5 拿来作应用，并于信中提出了如何规划七个 runlevel 的建议。
Matthew P. McGuire 指出在 LSB 中有[6]说明该如何配置各 runlevel。不过
Henrique de Moraes Holschuh 认为要改变现有的 init 命令稿系统（init
script system）没有这么简单，并且指出在他的一篇[7]文章中他说明了现有系统
的架构，以及他建议的修改方式。

【新的 Debian 档案金钥】 Anthony Towns [8]公告了 2003 年用来签署（sign）
main、non-US 及 security 套件档案库中所有套件的[9]档案金钥（archive key）
。这个金钥搭配 [10]apt-check-sigs，可以让您在使用 apt-get 时不用担心碰到
一些恶意或是被利用的映射站台。如果您有兴趣想看看其它利用这个机制的工具，
请查看 Google 或是 debian-security 论□文件集。Colin Walters 及一些同仁正
试著把这个机制整合到 apt 中。

【改进 Debian 中的游戏】 Hwei Sheng Teoh 说他愿意[11]协助维护游戏的
Debian 开发者，帮忙他们解决一些常见的音效相关问题。举例来说，有好几个游戏
的音效处理程式（soundserver process）在游戏本身结束后依然存在记忆体中，并
不断地消耗 CPU 资源。此外，Steve Kemp 也[12]注意到许多游戏都没有妥善处理

【计画领导人选举接受来自各界的意见】 Debian 计画秘书 Manoj Srivastava
[13]宣布今年在 IRC 上的计画领导者候选人辩论会将纳入各界的意见。在 [14]Debian

【Woody 的 OpenOffice.org 1.0.2 套件】 Adrian Bunk [18]说他利用移植
（backport）回 Woody（stable）的 GCC 3.2.1 制作了供 Woody 使用的
OpenOffice.org 1.0.2 套件。不过他也说明这些[19]套件只有经过很简单的测试，

。此刻，在 Debian unstable 套件库中提供的 1.0.2 版套件共支援 i386、powerpc

【Debian 在尼加拉瓜】 Georg Lehner [24]告诉我们 Debian 在中美洲正逐渐普及
。有三所大学将 Debian 用于路由器及伺服器，而且最近当地最大的大学 Nacional
Aut□oma de Nicaragua-Managua 针对系统管理者所举办的 Debian 研讨会刚刚结

【Exim 4.12】 Sander Smeenk [28]说他制作了一个 Exim-TLS 4.12 的[29]套件包
。因为担心使用很复□的 exim-tls 3.xx 设定档的人在升级时会遇到问题，所以他

【停止使用 undocumented.7 线上手册】 Bas Zoetekouw [30]打算要对所有还[31]
