$ apt-get install grep-dctrl
$ grep-available -sPackage emacs

or even better,

$ most|less|more /var/lib/apt/lists/xxxx_Packages

or rather die hard,

$ ls /usr/share/doc/name-prefix TAB TAB TAB ;)
