New Debian powerpc Packages



These powerpc packages were installed into the Debian hierarchy in the
last week:

boot-floppies - Scripts to create the Debian installation floppy set.
boot-floppies 2.0.4 -> 2.0.5 into dists/hamm/main/binary-all/admin

boot-floppies (2.0.5) frozen unstable; urgency=high
  * base system: added pppconfig and pkgsel
  * base system: the shipped "availables" file only contains information
    about the currently installed files. That reduces the number of base
    diskettes back to 5 1.44MB ones or 6 1.2MB ones.
  * base system: removed comerr2g, e2fslibsg and ss2g, provided by the
    new e2fsprogs package. Installed libstdc++2.8 instead of libg++272.
  * base system: removed obsolet /bin/perl -> /usr/bin/perl symlink.
  * Makefile: export architecture, so it can be used by documentation/Makefile
  * Added a README-tecra file (based on the old special/tecra/README).
  * basedisk.sh: Display a warning if we are installing partial packages.
  * debian/control: remove arch-dependent dependencies.
  * debian/rules: Set the proper permissions under debian/tmp.
    fixes: Bug#21155
  * root disk: removed comerr2g and e2fslibsg, provided by the new
    e2fsprogs package.
  * dinstall/baseconfig.c: Now reads de-latin1-nodeadkeys keymap. Fix
    by Nils Rennebarth.
  * dinstall/bootconfig.c: Install MBR only when asked to do so.
    fixes: Bug#19096
  * dinstall/main_menu.c: cosmetic fixes.
  * dinstall/partition_config.c: cosmetic fixes.
  * dinstall/select_not_mounted.c: Display the proper partition type in
    the "No %s partitions ... were detected" message.
  * libfdisk/fdisk.c: Now handles disks >2GB. (Fixed by Roman Hodek).

    is so bad (there's a problem in install.wish which I'm not sure how to
    fix)

  * Added support for generating slp packages -- alien is now capable of 16
    different types of conversions!
  * Cleaned up some of Fromslp.pm.
  * Added support for converting from .slp packages that use .gz
    compression, as well as .bz2.
  * Still TODO: handling postinst script when converting to/from .slp
    packages.
  * Updated Makefile to build .slp package of alien too, it will now appear
    on alien's homepage.

    settings.

  * New alien-extra's are available; updated the README to point to them.

  * (control): added a dependency on make.

  * add digit to version number: 0.7.x will be for hamm maintenance
    (branched); probably 0.8 will be for our documentation drafts

    file format documentation and system, and other documents; 0.9 will
    probalby contain our implementations of these new infrastructures for
    slink; and eventually it'll all be a done deal and we'll hit 1.0.

    into the control file for the kernel-image-* packages.
  * Install a README.Debian file from the official package if it exists
    (it contains information about the patches applied, and, presumably,
    how to compile a kernel image .deb file).

  * Made the reboot now message mention that one should probably wait
    until after installation is finished before rebooting, since one may

  * Fixed a syntax error in the kernel rules file. closes: Bug#21967
  * Changed all the changelog file names to changelog.Debian, as ooposed
    to changelog.debian. closes: Bug#21968

    word "existance" which occurs in several tags.
  * checks/files: At the advice of the python maintainer, added a warning
    against files installed in /usr/lib/python1.5 that are not in the
    site-packages subdirectory.  (closes #22236)
  * checks/fields: Reduced unknown-field-in-dsc and unknown-field-in-control
    tags from "warning" to "info", because such fields can only be
    introduced deliberately anyway.  ("info" tags are not normally reported,
    but can be queried when someone is interested.)  (closes #20521)
  * Made the above comment about info tags true, by adding a --display-info
    option.

    packages that are compilations of someone else's work, like sgml-data)


zircon     - Powerful X Internet Relay Chat client
