Perhaps I'm in a nitpickey mood today, and perhaps I'm off base here.

Is the package name "genscript" taken from the upstream package name?
If not, is it a good name?

I think "genps", or some such name which is more suggestive of postscript
(as opposed to sed,awk,bash,sh,chs,... scripts) would be a better name.
However, if the upstream package is namad "genscript", I think it's
better to retain that (unfortunate) name than to change it.
